The Climomaster Anemometer Model 6501 Series; why it's becoming the first choice for more and more HVAC, HEPA and IAQ professionals
The Climomaster anemometer is a research grade hot-wire anemometer that promises level 2% m.v. accuracy, making it the most accurate hot-wire in the world. It offers a ton of flexibility and options. In fact, there are 8 different probes available for it: these probes are all interchangeable and can be used with a single main unit without any additional calibration. The Climomaster Model 6501 probes can measure temperature and/or humidity along with air flow. Other probes are designed for use in turbulent or high-velocity airflows and some are miniaturized for use in really tight spaces like those encountered when checking the cooling profile of a circuit board.
The unit comes standard with 20,000 record storage capacity and advanced data logging capability. It can also be ordered with a pressure sensor and analog output if desired. Many additional accessories such as software, extension rods, hands-free case and special cable lengths are also available.
Special Note: We just upgraded this unit and the Anemomaster Professional with an automatic barometric pressure compensation feature. Now, all units come standard with this feature which helps maintain their excellent accuracy rating even in extreme altituded.
Its sleek, ergonomic design with anti-slip grip comes standard with a highly visible backlit display making it the choice of Journeymen technicians in the field.
Stores up to 20,000 data points which is easily downloaded to your company computer for analysis via the USB interface.
The optional software allows the users to view real-time data graphically formated on their company computer
For your convenience the anemometer keeps track of its own calibration cycle and reminds you when it is due for calibration.
The CLIMOMASTER 6501-CE measures pressure and features an analog output. When the direction of the airflow is known, choose a UNIdirectional probe. When the direction of the airflow is unknown or turbulent, choose an OMNI-directional probe.

They measure the air speed by calculating how fast the probe sensor is being cooled by the airflow.
The principles behind all hot-wire anemometers may be the same, but the quality varies. Simply put, with our temperature compensation sensor, our Climomaster is the most accurate with an accuracy of +/- 2%.
This is due to several factors:
Kanomax recommends annual calibration to ensure accuracy.
You can measure clean air between -4 and 158°F (-20 to 70°C) in an environment with no visible condensation. (Please note: the temperature range given is for the probes)
No, these are thermal anemometers that generate heat when in operation; if you expose them to a flammable gas it could cause a fire or explosion. Corrosive or caustic gases, such a chlorine, will damage the sensor on contact. While it is possible to use the instrument in a non-flammable, non-caustic gases the instrument is not calibrated for these gases and it will not measure airflow accurately.
No. Unfortunately these options are built into the main unit and must be ordered with the unit. They cannot be added later.
Windows XP (32-bit only), Vista, & Windows 7. (Please Note: Anemomaster Professional comes with software. It is available as an option for the Climomaster.)
The Climomaster probes use a smart technology that keeps the calibration data on a small chip inside each probe. This means you can swap out the probes freely in the field without needing to recalibrate either the probes or the main unit. You can also swap out the probe cable in the field if you need different lengths for different applications.
